Not only is the Hampton Inn-Worcester new and clean, but the breakfast was one of the best of this style that I have had in a hotel. All of the staff were very pleasant as well.
We left Worcester about 8:15 this morning after getting some cash and gas (and used their restroom) at a nearby Sunoco station. Finally we were on the final leg of our nine state journey.
We arrived at our house on Mount Desert Island, Maine about 1:45 this afternoon. On the way we made a restroom stop, stopped at the Maine State Visitor Information Center in Kittery and stopped for lunch at a Panera in Augusta.
The traffic was a breeze today and was a surprisingly pleasant drive. What an enormous change from yesterday! When we reached the wonderful town of Ellsworth, it finally felt like our vacation had begun.
Once we arrived on Mount Desert Island, we unpacked the car and then headed to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center where we picked up a free map of Acadia National Park, stamped Liam’s Passport and a picked up a field journal for Fionnuala. I had purchased the park pass online before we left and highly recommend that you do so as well. It allows you to print out your pass and can reduce your time through the entrance station when the crowds are large.
Our next stop was Hannaford grocery store in Bar Harbor to get groceries for the week. It’s a great store with everything, including organic and local items. It also has a nice, large parking lot that is kept free of tourist parking so I always could find a space.
Once we we stocked up, we headed back to enjoy the house (Pond View) and the wonderful evening.
States we drove through today: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine
